Deepfake technology has challenged the relationship between seeing and believing. I do a lot of mountain hiking, not climbing, so you know I’m talking about using feet, not ropes or pitons, to get me wherever I want, but my first law of relaxation is never to do a sport where a mistake can mean death.

I recently discovered the hike of a lifetime: Cliff Trail on Vermont’s highest peak, the 4,393-foot (1,338-meter) Mount Mansfield. There are many ways to climb the Mansfield, but Cliff Trail starts near the top, so I took a van there. I was hiking with a local guide.

When we reached our destination, we hiked down a short path to Cliff Trail. For the rest of the morning, instead of going ever upwards, we climbed down wooden ladders, passed up rock faces, and crossed the side of the mountain. Besides mostly using feet, we used hands to hold onto roots, arms to pull us over steep rocks, and shoulders to get through narrow passages. Occasionally, my guide pushed and pulled me through the difficult spots. I was both scared and excited.

We started at 10 a.m., reached the summit around 3 p.m., and stopped there for a long slow look at Vermont. The view was marvellous.

Thí sinh Xuân Nguyên, dự thi tại điểm thi Trường THCS Tân Thông Hội, nhận xét đề thi môn tiếng Anh vào lớp 10 TPHCM năm nay có mức độ tương đối nhẹ nhàng và phù hợp với kiến thức đã được học trong chương trình.

Theo Nguyên, đề gồm 40 câu hỏi, phần lớn là câu hỏi trắc nghiệm nên không quá dài, giúp thí sinh thuận lợi trong quá trình làm bài. Ngoài ra, các nội dung trong đề bám sát chương trình học, không xuất hiện nhiều câu hỏi mang tính đánh đố hay có độ khó cao. Nguyên cho biết, em mất chưa đến 30 phút để hoàn thành bài thi tiếng Anh và tự tin đạt điểm cao ở môn thi này.

Thí sinh Tấn Tài, tại điểm thi Trường THPT Phước Long, cho hay tiếng Anh là môn em lo nhất trong kỳ thi này. Tuy nhiên em khá bất ngờ khi đề thi dễ ghi điểm hơn nhiều các đề thi thử ở trường. Đề thi các câu tương tự như đề minh hoạ của Sở GD&ĐT công bố nhưng dễ hơn.

Tài đánh giá mình làm bài đúng trên 80%, vượt xa dự tính ban đầu. Theo Tài, em và nhiều thí sinh khác trong phòng không dùng hết thời gian 90 phút để làm bài tiếng Anh, chỉ hết tầm 45 phút.

Tại điểm thi Trường THCS Bàn Cờ, em Đặng Nguyên Khang, học sinh trường THCS Phan Sào Nam, cho rằng đề thi tương đối dễ và bám sát kiến thức đã ôn tập. Tuy nhiên, nam sinh cho rằng tính phân hóa của đề thể hiện rõ ở các câu 37 đến 40 thuộc dạng bài viết lại câu. Đây cũng là phần khiến em mất nhiều thời gian nhất trong quá trình làm bài.

"Khi làm đến những câu này, em thấy một số dạng khá lạ, nằm ngoài nội dung ôn tập và là lần đầu tiên em tiếp xúc nên có phần lúng túng. Tuy vậy, em vẫn cố gắng giữ bình tĩnh để hoàn thành bài thi", Khang chia sẻ.

Nam sinh cho biết phải suy nghĩ và vận dụng nhiều kiến thức mới có thể làm được câu 38 và 39. Riêng câu 37 và 40, em cố gắng hoàn thiện bài làm ở mức tốt nhất thay vì bỏ trống.

Dù gặp khó ở nhóm câu hỏi cuối, Khang nhận định phần lớn các câu trong đề đều vừa sức, phù hợp với năng lực học sinh và bám sát nội dung đã được ôn tập trong quá trình chuẩn bị cho kỳ thi.

"Ngoài các câu cuối thì các câu còn lại rất dễ, dư sức để em có đủ thời gian làm và kiểm tra lại", Khang chia sẻ.

Trong khi đó, em Minh Anh, học sinh Trường THCS Kiến Thiết, cũng đồng tình viết lại câu là phần khó nhất trong bài. Từng tự tin khi làm thử đề thi các năm trước được 9 điểm, Minh Anh bộc bạch với đề thi này, em chỉ kỳ vọng đạt 8 điểm.

Định hướng của Sở GD&ĐT TPHCM, đề thi lớp 10 môn tiếng Anh sẽ đánh giá năng lực ngôn ngữ không chỉ dựa trên kiến thức thuộc lòng về ngữ pháp và từ vựng của học sinh. Ngoài ra, còn khả năng hiểu và vận dụng kiến thức ngôn ngữ vào ngữ cảnh phù hợp, đặc biệt là các tình huống thực tế trong cuộc sống.

Theo quy định tuyển sinh của TPHCM, cả 3 bài thi trong kỳ thi này gồm ngữ văn, toán và ngoại ngữ đều tính hệ số 1.

Điểm xét tuyển vào lớp 10 được tính bằng tổng điểm của ba bài thi gồm ngữ văn, toán và ngoại ngữ, cộng với điểm ưu tiên và điểm khuyến khích (nếu có).

Năm học 2025-2026, TPHCM có gần 170.000 học sinh lớp 9 hoàn thành chương trình THCS. Trong số này, hơn 151.000 thí sinh đăng ký dự thi tuyển sinh vào lớp 10 các trường THPT công lập.

Đây là số lượng thí sinh dự thi cao nhất kể từ khi thành phố tổ chức kỳ thi tuyển sinh lớp 10.
